Foreword

We are glad to inform all aspirants that within a short span Shibnath Saha Teachers’ Training College has put on record in the field of achievement at the University of Burdwan B.Ed. examination (semester –I), selection at School Service Commission by providing with the best possible infrastructure, creating outstanding academic environment, organising seminars, workshops and inculcating ethical values among young trainees. We congratulate students (B.Ed. & D.El.Ed. Section), teaching & non-teaching staff-members of the college. A major criticism about the existing teachers’ training programme is that concepts like activity based teaching, team-teaching, instructional designs, co-operative and collaborative training which requires demonstration and participatory approach of training are also taught through lecture method resulting very little or no effect in the actual school class rooms. We have observed that the traditional transactional modalities have been partly replaced in this college with more interactive and participatory modalities. The members of the advisory committee deserve appreciation for their academic mentoring.

A major breakthrough has been achieved by the college through the introduction of ODL scheme study centre and NIOS scheme study centre to cater the training needs for Secondary & Primary level teachers.

We think the college deserves adequate support from Government, UGC, NCTE, WBBPE and other appropriate Organisations for its sustainable development in the right track.
