About Us

History

Shibnath Saha, a beacon of selfless service and education, exemplified the adage, “A man lives in deeds, not in years.” Born in 1905 in Burdwan District (Purba Bardhaman) to an aristocratic family, he led a humble life dedicated to the betterment of his community. Despite his privileges, he prioritized public welfare, donating his property for schools and infrastructure development.

As President of the Bogpur Union Board from 1948 to 1960, he championed education, founding Sahapur Primary School and dreaming of further institutions. His commitment to unity and secularism bridged religious divides, fostering harmony among communities. A scholar and philanthropist, he read sacred texts like the Gita and Chandi-Path, earning reverence across all sections of society.

Shibnath Saha passed away in 1960 while reciting the Chandi-Path during Basanti Puja. His legacy endures through his descendants, who continue his mission of spreading education, notably by founding Shibnath Saha Teachers’ Training College. His life remains a testament to the power of service, unity, and education.
